Big Update: Beads, Nabbi and Artkal, New Cropping Tool and Much More

Perleland has grown: now with four bead brands and almost 600 colors, a brand new cropping tool, significantly improved pattern editor — and the entire site in English.

We've been working hard, and today we're rolling out the biggest update in Perleland's history. Here’s everything new:

Four bead brands — almost 600 colors

Perleland no longer only supports HAMA. Now you can choose between HAMA, Perler, Nabbi, and Artkal — a total of 598 colors with correct color codes, so your shopping list matches the beads you actually have at home.

You select the brand under Plate Settings in the tool, and everything follows automatically: the color palette, the color codes in your PDF, and even the plate sizes. We naturally use the brands' own terms — for Perler, the sizes are called Classic and Mini, and for Artkal, you can choose between S-series (5 mm) and C-series (2.6 mm). The size charts now also show the finished measurement in centimeters, so you know whether you're working on a cozy project or a weekend endeavor.

If you’ve set up your bead stash on your profile, you can also filter it by brand.

New cropping tool

"Crop Image" has been completely revamped:

  • Pattern format is pre-selected — the cropping automatically fits your bead plate's proportions, so nothing gets unexpectedly cut off.
  • Straighten skewed photos with the new rotation slider, or rotate 90° with a single click.
  • Flip horizontally and vertically.
  • Quality warning: the tool will notify you if you zoom in so closely that the result becomes blurry — before you convert.
  • And under the hood: sharper image processing that results in cleaner patterns.

The pattern editor has gained superpowers

Once your pattern is made, you can now refine it like never before:

  • Eraser — completely remove beads (perfect for standalone figures).
  • Eyedropper — click on a bead to continue painting with the same color.
  • Text stamp — write names and words directly into the pattern, with the option for mirrored text for the ironing side.
  • Rotate and flip the entire pattern, and replace one color with another in one go.
  • All with full undo/redo functionality.

Smarter conversion

We've also upgraded the engine itself: new conversion algorithms provide smoother color transitions and neater surfaces, and the feature "remove lone beads" automatically cleans up the small single beads that can be troublesome when ironing.

Find patterns in a new way

The pattern gallery now has category pages — browse all patterns within categories like animals, flowers, or holidays on their own page, complete with tips and frequently asked questions.

Perleland in English

The entire Perleland is now also available in English at perleland.dk/en — so you can share your patterns and tools with friends all over the world.
