Today we're launching Perleland Version 4 – our biggest update since we added four bead brands in July. Here's everything that's new.
Don't have a picture? Just write what you're dreaming of – like "a dragon drinking hot cocoa" or "a penguin on a skateboard". Perleland draws the idea and turns it into a bead pattern in under a minute. You choose whether the figure stands alone or has a background, and how big the board should be.
You can now make a bead pattern from your own photo without creating an account first. Pick a photo, watch it turn into beads and fine-tune it in the editor. Only when you want to download the pattern as a PDF do we ask you to create a free account – and your pattern waits for you in the meantime.
Your profile has a whole new look. You collect Perlepoints when you make and share patterns, level up and unlock badges for your trophy case. New small quests arrive every week, the league shows how you're doing, and you can follow your favorite creators. You choose your own nickname and bead avatar – your real name is never shown.
If you've registered your beads on your profile, you can now switch on "Only use colors from my inventory" in the tool, so the pattern only uses colors you have at home – and you'll be told if any beads are missing. When the board is done, tap "I've made this board – deduct the beads from my inventory" to keep your inventory up to date.
The PDF now always draws the whole board with frame and grid, and cells without beads are shaded, so it's easy to see where to place your beads.
The first time you open the tool, a short three-step guide shows you how to get from photo to PDF. And if you have feedback or ideas, you'll find the "Give feedback" button in the tool.
